Large Moonstone and Rubber Necklace

It’s not hard to understand how Moonstone, a white luminescent crystal, got its name. Ancient Hindu lore held that Moonstone held trapped moonbeams. In ancient Rome, it was thought that Moonstone received its pearly luster from the stored light of the Moon. The ancient Greeks combined the names of the Moon goddess, Selene, and the love goddess, Aphrodite, and called this crystal Aphroselene.  

Moonstone became known as the “Traveler’s Stone” due to travelers’ belief that Moonstone would protect them and help light their path. However, Moonstone isn’t just good luck for travelers – it is believed to be a stone of good luck for all. Its brilliant glow even led to legends that sucking Moonstone could reveal one’s destiny. In France and other European countries, it is said that if you want to get pregnant, you should wear or carry a moonstone.
